I'm thinking about having all pickups adjusted with one tone knob rather than two, which leaves one tone knob left. The thing is I don't know what I'd want to do with it. What kind of things can I do elecrtronically to alter my sound with that one tone knob?

Man, just Google "stratocaster mods" and you'll get all sorts of hits and loads of ideas.

Or Google "Guitar Projects" or "Guitar Modifications" for even more ideas.

The Tone Control Mod that sounds interesting to me is to have a Master Tone and a Master Midrange control (I believe Torres Engineering has info on it).

Tips:

1. NO FLOYD ROSE BRIDGE!

2. If you're gonna swap pups, try out some guitars with the same kinds of pups in them.

3. A locking nut doesn't really help.

One thing some people do with a "surplus" knob is to use it to bring in the bridge pickup when it is not selected on the five-way switch. That allows you to add all-three-pups-together and bridge-and-neck to the traditional five pickup combinations.

Mind you, I'd rather use a small switch to achieve that (like on the new Gilmour sig, for example); but then I like having two tone controls. In fact, I'd like three...

Cheers - C
