Just how many of you could imagine Jimi Hendrix doing voodoo child or purple haze on a telecaster?!

I don't know, loks kind of weird to me... there's no whammy bar!

I'm sure he must have owned a tele in his massive guitar collection, but theres no film footage, or photo's of him playing one.

Yeah, I've never seen him play one, but it's possible since one of his favorite guitars was a Flying V

.....The following summer, Al purchased Jimmy his first electric guitar, a Supro Ozark 1560S; Jimi used it when he joined The Rocking Kings.

A quote from jimihendrix.com talking about his father buying his first electric.

Yea, that was his first guitar. Then it was the Silvertone Danelektro.

Don't sweat it, I've been wrong here before too. I didn't even know till I looked it up.

I've got some pictures of a lefty Tele that was supposedly Jimi's.

He had it around the studio, but reportedly didn't really like Telecasters, so maybe it never got recorded.

If you Google Hendrix & Telecaster you may find these stories.

This particular Tele ended up with Mitch Mitchell after Hendrix' death.
In the early '70s, Mitch sold the Tele and another guitar to a shop. The current owner (a lefty player) bought it from that shop. Over the years, the guitar was modified, unfortunately, so even if a picture of Hendrix playing it surfaced, it wouldn't look the way it looks today.

I don't think (And this is my own "personal" opinion!!) that Sir Jimi would have played a Tele, that's not to say it doesn't have it[s place in History, but It didn't fit into what Jimi was doing at the time...he was experimenting with music and I feel that a Tele would have been to "limited" for his use....He might have noodled around on one while sitting around in the studio, or maybe while waiting for his plane,....or warming up before a show, but I doubt it would have made it onto any of his records.....just my thoughts...

anyone remember the strat he used for awhile with a tele neck on it, would make sense if he liked the neck but struggled with upper fret access.

Oh, yeah, there were posters with that guitar.

Here's the lefty strat that supposedly was Jimi's. It was modded a LOT, however.
