I'm just wondering if this is posible. Can I get a two way toggle switch to turn the S1 switch on and off and make the S1 switch button a killswitch.

I'm pretty sure that would be possible, but why?

I don't like the push in button to activate the S1 switch. I think it would be faster and easier to activate if it were a toggle switch. And while I'm at it I might as well make the push in button a killswith just as an added feature. I just want to have customized and unique strat.

My personal opinion is to just leave it as is.

I would leave it to. That's a lot of messing around just to add a killswitch feature (basically), which I would never use myself. I'm use to rolling off the volume pretty quickly during quiet parts, or between songs, so that's "my" killswitch. Maybe you'd use that switch more.

For me, I might leave the S1 alone, and mess with the tone knobs. I have all picks (including bridge) controlled by one tone knob. That give you that other tone knob to do either....

- volume control of inner coil of humbucker (or single size humbucker)
- eq (mid boost, presence cut, etc)
- gain control (roll on an active circuit for gain boost for solos, etc)
- master control of neck pickup, so you can get the bridge/neck combo for some tele-like tones
- wah circuit (mainly for some light use, or stay-in-one-place sounds, etc)

you could go on and on....

I'd leave the s1 alone and install the killswitch on the hot wire from the jack socket.

Actually I think I will leave the S1 alone. I actually played on my strat and noticed that if you push down on it just a little bit without activating it, it almost sounds like a killswitch. I still want to do something unique to my strat to make it different and original, but I'll think of something later I guess.

I'm not one to take my guitars apart (the thought of it, sends my body into severe quivering), but I've heard that under that pickguard (with the S-1 switching) is enough wiring to link San Francisco to New York. Ok......I exaggerated just a bit, but you get my point. It's not quite the same as a normal strat. And unless you're an electrical genius, I'd just be happy to play it, the way it was built.

What kind of switch is it in the S-1 system?

I mean, like, double-pole triple-throw or what?

If you got the right kind of switch, then you could abandon the push-in volume knob.
