has anybody installed the clapton mid-boost in their strats and found a way to install it without having to route out the body? i was thinking of just blocking the trem somehow and putting the circuit in the trem cavity maybe? i don't know and would appreciate some help. i will probably have it done professionally becuase i don't want to destroy my 08 Am.St. that i savedfor 2 years for. does anybody know how much that would cost me? thanks for your help in advance.

the circuit board will fit underneath the pots in the wiring cavity if you put the TBX control at the bottom where the mid pickup tone pot was.

i recomend this wiring if your going with the TBX, fenders tbx wiring is a tone drain.

i went with this installation method for the board
http://www.areyouexperienced.net/fender_clapton_mid_boost_kit.htm

and installed the battery in the trem cavity (thanks for this good advice goes to Doc).

if your patient and take your time its quite a easy install.

FYI: Check out the review of Fender University in Frontline-Online. There's a photo taken at the Custom Shop. The Strat being held by Mark Kendrick, in the foreground, with the 'neat' finish, has a Clapton routing.

Doc

the easy way to get the battery into the trem cavity is through the earth wire hole. just disconnect the positive side from the battery terminal and thread the positive wire from the control cavity through the hole, then re-solder the wire back onto the terminal. It doesnt fit very well into the control cavity. you can get it in, but i had problems with it shorting out.
