I am thinking of purchasing the fender deluxe player's series. I was wondering what are the pros and cons about this guitar.

There's been a bunch of threads regarding this. The 'search' can likely help you with tons of info.

For me, I'd go with a Deluxe Roadhouse over a Deluxe Player mainly because of the DR's awesome pups and the lack of the DP's gold hardware.

That is no slam on the DP, though -- it is just one opinion.

My opinion:
I do not like the deluxe players strat.
The main reason is the neck.
I do not like the 12inch radius neck on that strat.
It doesn't feel right to me... it's too flat or somthing.
The regular 9.5 inch radius is much better feeling.

Also, I do not like gold hardware (it's just a cosmetic thing but, yuck).

I liked the roadhouse & the lonestar much better.
I strongly suggest playing them side by side...
If it isn't apparant to you immediately...
Come back later & try again... u will know...

Disclaimer: Shoes that fit me perfect are likely to give you a foot ache!

Cool I was just gonna start a post about this guitar. I have the MIM version with Vintage Noiseless Pickups. I believe there is an American version too. The pickups are really what makes this guitar. To my ears it has excellent pickups. So if your one of these people that has to have that exact vintage fender sound this will probably not work out for you. But I have to admit the pickups get very close. They are very bright and twangy, which is what I like.

On the downside they are not that good with distortion, at least to me they are not. This is why I removed the bridge pickup and put in a Duncan Cool Rails, almost as Hot as the Hot Rails but the Cool Rails have a very nice clean sound as well.

One other thing I was thinking about was the Noiseless feature is kinda pointless to me. To me they sound bad with a lot of distortion and that is there they hum. I always play them clean and use the Duncan for distortion so I really do not get the benefit of super quite pickups. But just to let you know they are very quiet with distortion, the Cool rails are very quiet as well. But the Fender Noiseless pickups are almost dead quiet. So here is a list:

MIM SSS Version
Pros:
Very quiet
Great clean sound(bright and twangy)
The tuners are awesome
Comes with bridge on button for 7 pickup settings

Cons:
Not so great with Distortion(if you like distortion get the Fat Strat version)

I'm pretty sure there is a Fat version

I'm quite happy with mine. Play it and see what you think, but to me, it's very versatile and fun to play many genres with.

It's a nice choice. And it all depends on YOUR feeling it and playing it. I played one or two and I really liked it. Feels slightly better than a standard, and it has the nice switching system, plus the gold hardware (I think it looks good). It also doesn't have the MIM phrase on the front of the headstock, you'll feel better with it like that. But, if you've got the money for a mexican deluxe, then what I'd do is go on Craigslist.org and look and wait a little while until someone sells their american strat for 600 or less.

The Deluxe Players Strat is a good choice. It's got some high-end features for a mid-priced guitar like Vintage Noiseless p/u's and the 7-way switching. I'm not a big fan of the gold hardware, but it looks good on the sunburst model.

I ended up buying the Deluxe Powerhouse Strat with noiseless p/u's (not the same as on the Dlx Players) and a 12dB boost. Kind of like having a Clapton or Buddy Guy sig model (sorta) at a fraction of the price.
