i have many strats 2 of them are almost 40 years old. but!
i would have to say i enjoy playing my 2007 highway ones more. why?
i'm about tone versatility and thats what my highway one gives me.
with my highway ones i dont have to change guitars to get certain
tones she does it all from classic to modern and in between.
and the sustain is fantastic. this is why i play them alot more
than my other strats.

Hey Gang-

Best Strat I have ever played was a 2007 SRV Strat- Neck felt awsome. I liked the weight of the entire guitar- It felt solid. The tone was just kick $@!. I am saving up to buy one.

Jeff Beck Custom Shop. Stays in tune, and doesn't have a sticky neck. Nice and smooth.

A Deluxe model from the mid-80s, with three push/push mini-switches instead of a 5-way switch, and it was plugged into a VOX AC30CC2. The mind blower, on this one, is that it's possible to have all 3 pickups engaged at the same time! If I could have afforded that one, along with a Fender Super Reverb, I'd likely go missing for days at a time, whenever I started into a jam session.

No single strat stands out in my memory.

But I'm kind of a "Pass/Fail" type of grader.

And some of the ones that earn the "Fail" mark probably just need to be set up properly to play and sound Just Fine!

Thats quite a easy mod if you dont mind losing one of the tonepots, but having your remaining tonepot cover all 3 pickups. I'll try and dig the schematic out later.

My fave ever player is my 57hotrod.
The best sounding strat i ever played was a custom shop hankmarvin. Owned by a millionaire who lives out in the sticks of worcestershire. He had 14 customshop strats all varying on the hank marvin theme. A selection of 60's ac30's (a very overratted amp, the current ones are much better sounding) and a recording studio to die for. Every effect you could wish for echoplex's and such like, DAT recorders (when they were cutting edge technology) and a 64 track board. God knows what else he had the guy was a utter hank fanatic.

My favorite is my '62 AVRI. It's got that vintage vibe, which is important to me. The neck and fingerboard feel perfect to my tastes. I often find myself in music stores and will pick up different strats to try them out a bit. They all feel good but not quite right. Then I realize it's because they don't feel like the one at home sitting in it's case.

They also probably aren't set up the way you like them. If you took them home and adjusted the action, etc, they'd probably feel like HOME!

Most guitars, after sitting around music stores for any length of time, are VERY out of whack.

too true. Ive never played a shop guitar that felt 100% right. All them different hands pulling the things in all directions on a day to day basis.
No regular maintainence either, if the guitar gets a tune up out of the box you've found a good shop.

My natural Ash Strat with the rosewood neck and the DiMarzio Areas. It plays effortlessly; sings, sustains and above all, stays in tune. The neck is perfect for me, is perfectly straight too and the intonation is right on the money. If it wasn't the best Strat I'd ever played, I wouldn't have it still as my #1.

The best SOUNDING I've played is probably my MiM. I actually preferred my MiM over an Am. Std. Although, I'm going to start playing with some Highway One's soon! :D

Best ever? Only two candidates - my SRV Strat and my friend's 50th Anniversary Deluxe. The SRV is magic; there is nothing quite like it. Others in the band tell me to turn off my TC Chorus pedal when it is not even on. This Strat is magnificent and has also been converted to have L.R.Baggs transducers in the saddles so now it can be acoustic too.

[quote="Jesuscares"]There are so many strats out there but which of those Strats appealed to you the most & why?

The first generation EC Signature series. Have just acquired an '89 in pewter. The neck suits my hand perfectly. and there's great variability in the power plant.

Though my Custom Shop strat was to begin with a Clapton platform, they didn't quite nail the neck as it is on this '89.

I'd have to say my favourite strat that I've ever played, and still want to get is the Highway Ones... I can;t help whenever I'm in and music shop holding it the first guitar I look for is the Highways Strat... The pickups were, at least for me, made perfectly for any type of playing from blues, hard rock, to some reggae. The frets are great and smooth making it less harmful to the fingers and easier to slide around. the body has a great ratio, the body isn't too heavy and wth the neck/ headstock don't have the feel of almost breaking if you play rough or constantly throwing it around. Although at the moment I can't afford it, that is going to be my next guitar... It seems so simple but that instrument is hiding something more amazing
