Do you sometimes feel safe leaving in on the guitar with the case closed or do you feel that when you remove it or put in back in eveytime that one time sooner or later you will go past the poiint of screwing it in to far as to strip the arm?

There is supposed to be a little spring in there to provide tension so it doesn't have to be cranked down; I saw a tip on another site that mentioned using the spring from a ball-point pen to do the same - just drop it in the hole.

My wammy bar is always off, when I store the guitar in it's case. My MIM Strat never came with a spring, so when I use it, I just screw it in slowly, until I feel it get to the end....then I back it off one turn.

A guy at Guitar center once gave me a spring for it, I still have it, but don't use it.

With my American Deluxe, it's a pop-in bar........so I don't have to be concerned with screwing it in.

I got to play my AD Strat a bit last night - but haven't tried the Tremolo...that "pop in arm" - does it just press in and pull out?

Thanks!

I've heard two stories on that. One is.... put the arm partially in....then push down on the wammy bar, so that the back end of the bridge comes up, to expose a screw at the back of the block. Loosen the screw, push the bar all the way in......then tighten the screw again (that was giving to me from a salesperson at Guitar Center.

Ok......other version (and probably the right one). At an authorized Fender Service Center the luthier said it's called a pop-in.......because that's what you do. The screw I mentioned above is just for making an adjustment so that it pops in harder or easier.

Then........just to be sure........I sent an email off to Fender Customer Service, asking that question. They said.....Just pop it in.......and pull it out when done. I'd probably trust the second and third version.

Doesnt work, ruined a tremblock of mine some years ago, the spring wound into the thread of the block and effectively stripped the thread.

Yeah, you'll want to take that trem bar off when you store it in a case.
