For the money you'd pay to get a new bridge and have it installed (I'm not aware of any direct replacement for the Affinity so mods may have to be made), you could get a used or even new MIM Fender.

Really, what stories? Care to share?

Anyway. I presume it is a six-screw tremolo? So measure the distance between the centers of the outer two screw holes. Then go look at a lot of replacement bridges on the net. Online retailers will sometimes tell you the distance between those screws, so's you can buy a bridge that will just drop into the existing holes. Some bridges have elongated screw holes, to allow for a bit of variation. If the retailer doesn't mention the hole pitch - ask.

Some places to start looking include:

www.stewmac.com

www.wdmusic.com

www.callahamguitars.com

www.warmoth.com

www.allparts.com

and many others that our colleagues might like to mention. Spend a lot of time looking, because there is a lot of variety out there, at least in the details. You can think of spending from $50 to several hundred, depending.

One more thing, if you have a six-screw bridge don't think of converting to a two-point trem. It can be done - but it usually ain't worth the hassle.

Cheers - C

I've heard warnings about one-piece Fender bodies warping.

But I've never seen a broken bridge nor a warped body.

I think that the callaham bridges look really tempting. They are made of actual steel!

That said, for $300 plus what you can get for your squier, you could get a really nice used MIM strat. That would be my vote...

Well, my cousin's bridge broke while using the whammy and my friends popped out while playing it and he's really ticked those are two personal stories.
