I recently added two springs to my fairly new player Strat and the effect has completely changed the feel and response of the guitar. Before adding the two additional springs the guitar felt flimsy and didn’t have the resonance and feel of a quality guitar. It’s a great guitar and is very well made and after modifying a few things it has turned into a guitar that’s better in someways than my USA 06’ Standard. Just wanted to hear opinions on adding springs and if you prefer 5 or not. Cheers.

It's possible that the extra kinetic linkage provided by the two additional trem springs has had a positive effect on the guitar's overall resonance and sustain but qualitatively, the jury is still deadlocked. However, that you're satisfied with the apparent sonic improvement is all that matters.

Dis you adjust tremolo spring claw to keep bridge at 1/8 " from the body ?

I added 2 springs to my 2014 American Standard and really like the change. After adjusting the claw screws, the bridge still floats as before, but with added stiffness. I've noticed string bends don't raise the bridge very much and it just feels solid.

I did keep the bridge around 1/8 to 1/16 of an inch off the body. Thinking of going to 4 springs. If I lost one spring what side should I take it from the lower e or upper

I would remove the center spring to maintain equilibrium across the bridge plate.

This

I can't imagine why anyone would consider different.
