Hello All!

I would love any help in identifying the make/origin/era of this strat body. This guitar was sold to me over 10 years ago from a reputable shop as a 1987 Strat Plus. It looked convincing, and was evenly aged/weathered - all plastic, wood, hardware seemed to be of the same vintage. Well, turns out the neck and perhaps the pickups and pots are from a genuine Strat Plus, but I recently discovered the body is most definitely not. For starters, does't he swimming pool route, and it also appears to have had a micro-tilt and was originally a 3-bolt? So what could this be?

Googlephotos don't give a pic address (https...jpg), so that's probably what we get...

The trem could be an American Series two point trem.
The bridge humbuckerizing is done horribly.
The paint seems to be a (bad) refin.
Neck screw holes plugged, and not well at all.
No CNC-holes in the usual places for a Fender US or Mexico.
So, it's a guitar body, worth what anyone wants to pay. No guarantees it would be an FMIC product.

But that doesn't mean it couldn't be a fine base for a mean guitar.

Looks like at one time it was a 3-bolt neck.
Not likely MiM Classic-70s with no CNC locating holes.
A real Fullerton 3-bolt would have a circular route for the metal puck that held the adjuster.

I don't think this is a Fender product.

I agree this doesn't seem to be a Fender body. Number one - this body is almost certainly older than 2000 - and not sure if they made MIM 3 bolts before then? Maybe? But yes, it doesn't have the large micro tilt metal plate route. I was wondering if this was possibly a G&L 3-bolt originally? This thread shows an image of a neck pocket that is similar http://www.guitarsbyleo.com/FORUM/viewtopic.php?f=122&t=13133

Who knows. But I will comment that the real Strat Plus neck fits in this pocket perfectly.

The pickups are 2 real gold and 1 red lace sensors, and the pots seem to be legit fender (with the TBX tone knob). The pickguard is from WD Music, and appears to be from 90s.

I would say that in person this has what appears to be an original (and nice) black paint job. Very solid, even, no orange peel, no evidence of any other type of finish. There is a lot of hard gigging bangs and play wear on it though.

Might possibly be a G&L body. I don't know if the neck pockets are the same dimensions or not, but the screw holes do not match between 3-bolt Fender and G&L.
You'd need to measure and compare your original holes against a Fender-spec 3-bolt.

Right. The 3 holes have been filled and the pocket was drilled as 4 hole for the Strat plus neck. The size of the little circular disc (presumably for whatever tilt mechanism was originally involved) looks to be same diameter and position as the G&L. But I’m not sure if the way the pickup wire routes (down center of pickups) fit the g&L description. Oh well, was hope that it was something slightly more interesting and not just a no name body - but I guess this Strat is forever a keeper. Funny that this is the best “fender” I’ve ever owned/played.

Here are the OPs pictures.
I was trying to figure a way to get Google photos to display on the forum, so after some experimenting, came up with this. Haven't figured out a way to get them to show up full size yet.
