What do you guys love playing on your stratocasters? i'm looking for songs that were most likely specifically written on strats by the original artists such as Sunshine of your Love by Cream (Eric Clapton).

Basically what i guess i'm asking is what are your "go to" songs that yous love playing on your strats?

If I'm playing it it is either going to be on a Strat or Tele as I don't play anything else. I play what I like and if it doesn't sound right its my fault not the choice of song or guitar. The sound is in the fingers.

Okay, I'll bite.

Pretty much anything by J.J. Cale. But I'll be playing it on my Telecaster. I have no clue what kind of guitar he wrote songs on. Maybe he wrote some of them on a piano.

I don't know, maybe my favorite is "After Midnight", hard to say.

Cheers,

Ritchie from Blackmore certainly used to incorporate classical elements so perhaps he was of the same view.

Someone must have told Jeff Beck that Nesun Dorma was written on a Strat.

I nearly did, even typed responses a couple of times, but ultimately couldn't hit the submit button.

It does sound a stupid question, but I sort of know what you mean!

If it's not my own music, anything off the Layla LP will do, especially Keep On Growing. Tedeschi / Trucks have a good version of that track on YouTube, too. Great LP, though, in my view, built around a Strat (although I expect other guitars were used as well - as is usual, of course!)

Cheers - Peter.

If you're restricting yourself to sounds done on Start's only

Guess you better start with Buddy Holly and the Crickets

For EC stuff, yeah the Layla album, along with the D&TD "In Concert", wealth of fun licks to work with, but I also like EC's Debut album, the clean strat on that whole album but especially on Let It Rain!
