So I found a MIM Strat on Letgo and the price falls in that "too good to be true" category.

So before I drive out of my way to take a look at it, I wanted to know if any of this raises any alarms, since the serial number registration picture doesn't match the guitar itself.

Here's the listing description:

Fender Stratocaster Excellent Condition

Lots of extras here

MIM Midnight wine Stratocaster with rosewood neck and extras:
Kluson style vintage tuners
New style string tree
American vintage bridge
Large tremolo block
5 springs in trem claw
Tremolo blocked
Fender Alnico V pickups
Cream pickup guard
Cream color accessories
Black Tusq nut
Recent setup

Extremely cared for and smoke free home.
Plays exceptionally well, I am just thinning out my guitar collection.

Thanks for any insight ahead of time.

Nothing really sticks out as being fake.
It looks like a basic Mexican made Standard, the Fender database matches the appearance.

How much is "too good to be true"? Keeping in mind that Adorama typically sells brand new MiM Strats with warranty for $400-$500 on sale.

I agree that it looks like a Mexican something.

The changes make it difficult to ascertain what it was originally.

The countersunk PUP screws suggest they are a vintage type spec. I like Kluson style tuners but the purest in me would play up my OCD in respect of the string tree.

It has obviously have may changes, they might be good and well executed or they might be bad.

I would go for an original, unmodified model myself because you know exactly what you are getting.

Too good to be true almost never is, in my experience.
