Hi everyone, I just purchased an Ultra Strat Mocha and she’s beautiful, I also got a Fatfinger sustain enhancer. Does anyone else own one of these devices? And where is your sweet spot to enhancing sustain? Talk amongst yourselves
Thanks

I saw them on sale for $5 and had always been curious if they actually do anything, so I bought one.

Tried it on over a dozen guitars. Multiple places on most. Tried putting it on, hitting a chord, and while it was still ringing loosened the clamp and let it fall off.

On most guitars it didn't make any noticeable difference.

On a few, it did sound a tiny bit different. But just "different", not "better". Didn't find a single guitar where I wanted to leave it on. It's been sitting in a drawer full of guitar parts for almost a decade.

At the other extreme of the sustain spectrum, I changed the bridge in my Squier Jaguar, which took it from having "barely any sustain at all' to having "a little sustain", which meant it sounded a little less like a Jag and a little more generic. This leads me to think "more sustain" is not necessarily a positive thing, and has put me off from trying something like a FatFinger.

No, more sustain is a good thing because you can choose to stop sustain with your fingers but (to a general extent) can't generate acoustic sustain in a dead guitar.

However, if it has stopped you wasting your money on a FatFinger this probably isn't a bad thing.
