I'm want to put a GFS Vintage 59 in my Strat, but there's no F-Spaced version. I've seen them in both the neck and bridge position in both Strats and Teles on different forums and in YouTube clips; they sound great. Should I be hesistant about installing one in the bridge?

I think the F-spaced thing is a bit of a crock, personnally. When I built my Frakenstrat, I did use f-spaced Dimarzios. But the more I learned about f-spacing, I just could not press the "I believe" button.
Just one opinion, though...

Ok, so it only applies to the bridge pup; that explains why it sounded good in a Tele neck. I have to double check n see if my memory of it being in a Strat bridge is correct.

Thanks.

Strat string spacing is usually more than 2" at the bridge.

Yep, this guy has a 59 in the bridge, and he seems to think it's F-Spaced. It sounds alright to me. Although I think that I like it better in another clip, in the neck of a Tele. I'm pretty sure it's cuz of the neck's warmer sound, not the spacing.

I used to have several Strats with humbuckers in the bridge, and have to say I've had both 'normal' and F-spaced over the years, and don't find any difference. And as soon as you bend a string, it's either not directly over its polepiece, or it wasn't before and is now!

And all single-coils are F-spaced as standard, as I understand it.

I only now have one HSS Strat, with a normal Pearly Gates in the bridge. The two E's aren't quite over their polepieces, fair enough, but it sounds fine to me. Some might think it doesn't look quite right, but it doesn't worry me. Matter of opinion, I suppose...

Cheers - Peter.
