Couple of questions:

1. I’m uncertain about the neck shape and live pretty damn far away from any stores to try different necks out. I have small hands and like the modern c, but find it a tad too small, and also find the 60s oval c but find the shoulders absolutely horrific; I have to stretch my thumb pretty hard to be able to play the bass notes Hendrix style. I’ve heard of the soft clapton v, how does it compare to the aforementioned necks? I think the slight v will help with my thumb, but as the neck tapers to a c, does it have big shoulders? Does anyone have a 60s CS strat and EC soft V to compare it to?

2. Should I go for a compound 7.25-9.5 nut or 9.5-12? I play mainly blues for what it’s worth.

3. Are the FAT ‘50s warm enough where they lose their bell twang/ banjo like sound? Shall I go for HW ‘50s instead? Or should they be fine?

Thanks!

You are NOT ready to order a CS Strat -- you need to research neck profiles and fretboard radiuses more thoroughly before committing to buy.

As for the Fat '50s pickups, they're a great set. Think of them as similar to the Texas Specials but with more mid-range grunt.

That's why I'm asking, will the fat 50's feel hot and lose their twang? As for the necks, I'm just asking for people's opinions, people who own them and have more experience than I do.

They can't tell you how YOUR hand is going to feel with a specific neck.

arjay is 100% correct. I have been playing for 60 years. I can tell in a few minutes whether or not its the guitar for me. if the neck doesn't feel right, or the body shape in not comfortable, i'll pass. you really need to try out a number of guitars before you find 1 that speaks to you.

Yep necks are a personal thing.
Check the custom shop build guide pdf for profiles.
Go for a compound radius and handwound if you can afford it.
:D

Arjay straight in there on the money once again.

I agree.

If you don't know what you want then save your money until you do.

As someone who could never justify commissioning a CS Strat (but am pretty certain I could write the spec in seconds) I have to bite my tongue.

I have strats with both texas specials and Fat 50s, IMHO, no.. they won't.

I tried the '57 AVRI Hot rod strat from 2007-2013 and the neck is a 'modified soft v' it fit amazingly, best neck I've tried, but I can't find the dimensions on it, any clue?

Nothing feels better to me than the compound radius neck on my American Deluxe.

Oh, please ... that is why he is asking. It is only money after all, and there are ALOT worse things to spend your money on than a CS. Also ... don't assume that the OP's financial situation is the same as yours ...
