I have a '96 MIJ Standard Strat, it's the base model yet still very nice. I bought an American original vintage tremolo to replace the one in it. When I line up the new bridge on top of the old, the string spacing looks to be on, but the 6 mounting screws could be just ever so much narrower on the MIJ, like .1-.25mm narrower. Before I disassemble completely, is there a known compatibility problem between the USA part and the original MIJ part?

In my opinion USA are SAE and MIJ are Metric

There have been Tokai's with USA/SAE spec bridges. Not sure if any MIJ Fenders had US spec bridges, but it's possible.

Metric bridges have significantly narrower screw spacing. When comparing them the difference should be clearly visible.

If it looks like only a fraction of a millimeter, that could be an optical illusion. The next time you change strings it's probably worth trying to swap out the bridges.

Optical illusion becomes a reality. Spread is just a touch too wide with the USA Vintage (56.5mm). My MIJ bridge is 56mm with 2 7/32 string spacing so looking next at a GOTOH GE101TS for the steel block, unless someone can point me to a Fender or something better than the PING I have, which is sounding better and better considering all the trouble I am having upgrading to steel.
