Back in the '80's I bought my first new guitar and amp; the amp is a Deluxe 85 and the guitar is a white Stratocaster made in Korea. I have done a little research on the guitar and all I have found had "Squire" somewhere on the head stock, however mine does not it only has the Fender logo then Stratocaster with Made in Korea just below it in small letters.
I wanted to know what the difference, if any, mine is as compared to the MIK Strat Squire. The guitar plays great and the neck actually feels better and plays easier than my really old original Highway 1. I replaced the Korean electronics in it years ago with the electronics from my old Highway 1 when I put a wired pick guard loaded with Lace Hot Gold's in the HW1.
Any info offered on my MIK Strat is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

To give any relevant/reliable info, the guitar should be identified first.
On the 'back in the eighties'; the start of Made-In-Koreas dates to the later half of 1980's. Squiers from '85 (some sources say '87...), Fenders from about 1988.
On the 'Fender'; that's trustworthy if you bought it new from a reliable shop. But on the second hand market, numerous Squiers have gotten a new logo by previous owners.
Qualitywise, MIK's go from fantastic (e.g. Lite Ashes from the 2000's) to horrible (e.g. some plywood Squiers with parts not fitting, neck warpinf & such), but most lay somewhere in-between.

Anyways, pics and serial number to go further. Please.

jmattis thanks for responding. The guitar and amp were both bought new in the late '80's at an authorized Fender dealer called Mississippi Music in Jackson so I know they are legit. I did find the serial # on the face of the head stock and to the best of my vision using a magnifying glass on the faint silver lettering it appears to be: E1040272. I found more information here: https://support.fender.com/hc/en-us/art ... ufactured- but it is uncertain that the sn will reveal anything but based on the 7 digits it should put the guitar in the 1988-1992 date range. My wife was with me at the time of purchase because we also bought her a Yamaha Clavinova that same day and to the best of her recollection it was in '88 no later than '89.
I have pics but trying to figure out how to attach them to this thread so it may be a while. I may be chasing a rabbit but was just trying to get a little more info on it.
Thanks again for responding.ImageImage

First you need to upload your pics to the internet. Use a pic hosting site (imgur, imgbb or such - avoid photobucket) or some common web framework like e.g. facebook, googlephotos - whatever you're familiar with.
The important thing is that the web site provides you with a pic address - that's the one starting with 'http' or 'https' and ending in '.jpg' .

Copy the pic address (that https...jpg), and use the IMG-command (visible when you write a message) on the forum.

Preview your post so everything is OK.

Thanks John but I went back in to site to try to resize and accidentally deleted the pictures, tried to resize and uploaded them again. I should have gone to our local middle school and got some kid to help me with this...

I think you can narrow down the build year, it's an '88 or very near that. The info on those MIK's is very lacking, but AFAIK, not made pre-1987 and not post-1989.

I don't think there's anybody who knows why some guitars from the same factory were labeled Squiers and some Fenders. Could of course be a quality thang ; Fenders made with better components etc; but no way to confirm.

Anyways. looks like a nice instrument, personalized to be your very own guitar. It's rare, but you won't retire to the Caribbeans on the profits if you sell it. I look at it as a keeper; it's got history, looks and a helluvalot of fine notes in store.

Thanks jmattis, I figured it would difficult to get specifics being it's Asian but it was worth a try to me anyway and thanks to you I do know more about it. Yeah it's a keeper for sure, as well as my 2002 Highway 1 Strat.
I'm 66 and over the years I have accumulated several nice and some not so nice guitars but the biggest bang for the buck was a '99 Gibson Les Paul double cutaway that my wife's nephew sold to me for $650.00 because he didn't like LP double cuts. It is blue burst has 24 frets, gold hdwe. and oem hard case; that is my little sweetie.
I'm not planning to sell any of them and ironically have willed all my musical equipment to her nephew as my son only wanted all my firearms lol.
Thanks again for your responses and rock on my friend.
