The model in question I was looking at is the White Blonde variation. My question (probably stupid as I already know the answer) is does that model have a variant of the White Blonde color? All the ones I've seen almost look they have a blueish/darker (like a grayer mix of White Blonde and Sonic Blue) color in comparison to say a Stratocaster Standard with the same color. Now I know the EJ sig series also has a darker maple neck and yellowed pups and knobs which could cause a weird optical illusion of such (maybe even pickguard?). That color can seem look really different from strat to strat. Also could very well be a trick of the light (or my eyes are going)

White blonde is traditionally done on ash bodies. Ash has a light creamy color with darker streaks in the grain.

EJ wanted his signatures to be alder instead, which is a darker red/brown wood.

Since white blonde is slightly translucent, it looks different on EJ's than on ash bodies.

Ahh yes I never thought of that good point thank you. Forgot he was going for the alder. I absolutley love what the wood does to that color. I still say that (in comparison to the standard strats with alder) that this EJ still looks a tad different but I suppose alder has that nature of being varying in tone. Was thinking of trying to track down an alder strat with the same color to mimick the EJ's color. Reason being is I'm not too keen on an 12" radius and the custom pups as I'm going to be putting in a set of EMG's anyway so I don't really see the sense of getting one of those strats if I'm just going to rip it apart anyway. I'd also try to aim for stock as I would use custom shop as last resort. Any thoughts?

I’ll second on looking lavender.
A friend has an Eric Johnson and it is definitely yellow/blond.
Is this a trick ?

In that pic, all the colors except black look off to me.

Almost all digital cameras have a thing called "automatic white balance". The algorithm looks for the brightest thing in the pic, assumes it's white, and tries to adjust it to look white.

In that pic, there's an off-white guitar in front of an off-white wall. Which confused the AWB so none of the colors turned out correctly.

Digital cameras have a hard time with "almost white" colors like Faded Sonic Blue or White Blonde.

EJ's do look different than White Blonde over ash, but you really can't trust digital cameras to capture either one correctly.

I've never seen an EJ look blue or lavender in real life, just in pics.

I'll give you that as I've personally never seen one look anything like this either. If anything more grayish for the EJ's. But is it just me or if one was to imitate the color manipulation shown on say that image, would that not be a cool color though?

Either way, I'd still like to try to track an alder body with the White Blonde down without having to get the added frills of a signature series. To my better knowledge though I don't know of a standard stock strat existing in the past with alder. Just ash. May have to bite the bullet and have custom shop build one. Though it would certainly be neat if you were given the option to create a custom color.
