A friend of mine got this Stratocaster from a flea market in Seoul and would like to get more information about it. There seems to be no serial number on the neck but only some handwritten signs. The logo and patent numbers on the head seem to be authentic, also the fonts on the potentiometers. Help to identify this instrument is very much appreciated.

Here are photos of the Stratocaster:

Peg head truss nut hole look not a fender made neck.

IMO tuning machines are not originals ; I could be wrong

It's a fake.

As already noted the neck is wrong. The trem cavity screw holes are wrong so it isn't a Fender body. Saddles are cast and not on a 70s style guitar.

The biggest red flag, the Custom Shop logo.

I hope your friend dint pay much for this. There is a slim possibility that, despite not being a Fender, it could be a good guitar...but the odds aren't in its favour.

Spaghetti logo and late 60s onwards tuners, coupled with truss rod access at the headstock end.
Nothing adds up correctly.

I hope the SLO plays well, and that is didn't cost much.

Ditto the above comments.
It is not a real Fender.
The tuners may be real Fender from the 70s, or they may be modern production (Fender still makes them), but they would not be put on that headstock.
That is absolutely NOT a Fender "Custom Shop" guitar.
I see no lettering on the bridge saddles, so I suspect that nothing on that guitar was ever in a Fender factory... maybe the tuners.

I hope he did not spend a lot of money on it, because it is nothing more than a $150 guitar that has been beaten up with a horrible fake "relic" job.

We have given a lot of information to the author of the post.
In return as requested and to thank us, we would like to know the price that this guitar was paid for.

Thank you very much for all the informations. As far as I know the previous owner had the pegs changed.
He paid around 1000 USD for the instrument. For a fake it would be too much...

My theory was that it is maybe a mix of some Squier parts and some US parts...
What do you think?

Indeed. It stuns me that someone will part with that amount of cash for something they obviously know nothing about.

I put that at $200 for a Squier (if you are lucky - it may not even be that) and $800 for "artistic" butchery. It is because people buy these things that low lifes do it.
