Hey all, I have owned a Strat before, but I'm looking to get another one. The number of different models is a bit bewildering for the uninformed. Ideally I'd like something which has:

Rosewood fretboard
Medium jumbo frets
"traditional" pickup layout (i.e. no double coils, etc)
C-shaped neck

Any pointers, folks? :)

Hello,
I can only give my own opinion but you seem to know what you want already. Like, I prefer maple necks instead of rosewood. I can not see buying a guitar and getting it in the mail. I go down to a shop and try everything they have. And I pick the one that feels right to me. I will say, the strat is my favorite. Hope this helps.

You will only find out by trying them. You are right, the combinations of variations are almost endless.

I was convinced two point trems with block saddles was exactly what I wanted but now I wouldn't consider one over a vintage style bridge. I thought I would only play maple boards but I have maple and rosewood. I have a variety of neck shapes and radii.

I know I don't like heavy guitars but other than that it is just that imperceptible thing where the guitar talks to you and makes you want to pick it up and play it. My guitars are like children, they are all different but I couldn't really pick a favourite.

Your thoughts on guitars can also change. I bought one guitar from a box company and initially the guitar felt sterile but after time I have grown to really like it.

So, in summary, specification can mean next to nothing. You will either like the guitar or you wont and you can have two identical guitars in every way but one will be nicer to play than the other.
