just wanted your experienced input.
i tested out 2 strats.
1. fender special edition lite ash with seymour duncans
2. fender deluxe players with vintage noiseless and some sort of s1 button.
both mim, both very nice guitars.
on the 1st, sd sounded very sweet, and those strings were rusted and about to break.
i fell in love with the birdseye maple, and the tone.
couldnt test it thoroughly though overdrive, distortion.
my question, does this one hum alot ? oh, and black body, blk pg,blk knobs and pu covers. looked like gilmours.

2nd, i tested the deluxe with noiseless and vintage tuners, 12 " fb, that s1 button.
anyway, this guitar was nice, what i liked, i turned the gain up to 10 on the amp, and it was quiet. great for distortion.

my american strat is great too, but with alot of gain you cant turn the volume so loud.

so
lite ash love the color, maple neck, pickups are nice.
deluxe, love the vintage feel, tuners, 12 " fb and pickups are sweet.

opinions please. i know, which feels good in my hands.
both are seriously nice.
whats your take on the lite ash one?

yeah,
i have read some of the reviews. i played this guitar and sounded great.
i would like to know how noisy they are.

i youtubed the shiznit out of this guitar, but it almost sounded like if they had too much bass.

heres my situation.
i went to the store because i wanted to buy the gibson, studio les paul.

i tried it out, liked it, but kept going back to the strats.
i love les pauls, im just way more of a strat guy.

i would love a les paul for my gear collection. im just afraid i may not play it as much.

A bit of sideways thinking. I feel Les Pauls are something you don't want to cut corners on. To get the real LP experience you just have to save and pay out for a proper Standard, or a Custom or whatever. Then you have a very fine guitar for life. The Studio is just a Les Paul lite [howls of angry disagreement, I'm sure].

The Lite Ash Strat (or Tele) on the other hand is a knock-down bargain, to my mind. You can't argue with the prettiness of that birdseye neck with abalone dots; plus a proper ash body and not bad pickups - all for an amazing price. I don't much like the cheapy pickguard - but that is easily remedied.

Now here's the sideways bit. I hate the idea of buying a new guitar to mod. However, those Lite Ash's do make extremely good platforms for your own fantasy cosmetic and electronic upgrades. And being such a bargain, lots have been sold and consequently many come up on Ebay, often in near new condition, because at the price it is a guitar that attracts first timers who strum in their bedroom a bit and then give up.

So Lites in very good condition are available at even more attractive prices - and somehow it isn't so morally wrong to mod a "pre-owned" instrument. And what you have saved on the purchase you can now spend on pickups, tuners and a nice parchment pickguard - always assuming you don't like all those parts the guitar came with, which were not at all bad in the first place.

Whatchathink? Is it a plan?

Cheers - C

ceri,
you know, i dont disagree with you at all.
you know, when i tested the les paul studio(mahogony)
i wasnt very convinced, i did play a les paul standard, that one convinced me.lol

on the strats issue, i have a hwy 1 and an am std both sss.
i love those guitars.
however, when i played the lite ash, it felt solid, asthetically awesome, and the pickups sounded great, they had a balsy, loud oomph to those pickups.
the strings were extremely old and rusty. so i didnot want to bend too much on it.
the midddle pickup sounded weak, like if it was wireed improperly.
but overall, loved it. to some the mim are "crap".
i must say, i strongly disagree.
