Wandering through a local high-end guitar "boutique" in San Antonio the other day, I came across a truly bizarre specimen: the Fender Custom Shop Strat/Tele Hybrid Closet Classic. It's a Strat on a contoured Telecaster body. It also has a Strat neck & headstock. I picked it up and wanted to try it out, but I quickly put it down again after spotting the $5K+ price tag!

Does anyone on the forum own this cool guitar? How does it sound and feel?

I saw a review of a blue stratele about 18 months ago. its just a strat without the top horn and sounds just like a strat too.

personaly myself i dont like it, its neither one thing or the other. Maybe a tele headstock, bridge and maybe edge binding would make it look better.

If it sounded like a tele but looked like a strat...I might consider it

I like it - I really like single cutaway style bodies - this one is sharp.

I've seen that on Musiciansfriend.com too, it's pretty cool. I'd definitely consider it if it was $4000 less. Ha.

Just get the American Deluxe Telecaster.
It has the most important comfort curves of the strat.
Plus it has the recessed heel where the neck attaches too.
It is the most comfortable playing tele I have played.
Almost identical to the comfort of the strat but sounds & IS a tele!
