I have some questions on these as I'v been debating for ages what one to go for.
'62 Vintage Hot Rod;
1. Where are they built, USA, Japan or Mexico?
2. How does the neck feel? I'v heard it feels quite thick.

'62 American Vintage;
1. I'v read about how much harder it can be to bend with the 7.25 radius and I play .11's with high action in the key of E. Is this true?
2. How are the vintage style'd frets? Because I'm used to playing on medium jumbo ones.

Thanks for any replies.

Hello Jimmy.Ponte,

'62 hotrod is made in USA.

Fat neck which for me is it's
finest feature.

Medium Jumbo modern frets
9.5 fingerboardradius

Hotrod already wired with
reverse wound reverse polarity
5 way switch.

The hotrod is
doin it for me.

Mine is olympic white

Cheers.

I'm with Hemi..you can only ponder so long before you just have to go out and try them yourself.

Really don't want to get all jingoistic here. But I know some exceedingly good music shops in the UK. I remember Niki's difficulties getting hold of a Hotrod, but nevertheless...

Where are you, Jimmy? Perhaps you are near a decent shop I or someone else can point you towards.

Cheers - C

your right there are some excellent shops, depending on where your located and whether their stock meets your requirements. Its a very sporadic problem. glazgows got a couple of good shops, edingburgh hasnt. Newcastle, manchester and pretty much every city on the south coast has. Birmingham, leicester, nottingham and pretty much all the east coast from whitley bay down havent.
coupled with the problems of the countries ever failing infrastructure and lack of decent rail network, trying the guitar your interested in becomes a difficult prospect.

Ceri your bang on right though, the good ones are great.

Just to give our old high school bass player (Adrian Ashton) a plug, Mansons in McCoy's Arcade in Exeter is just about as nice as any guitar shop I've ever been in anywhere on the planet. That's even without that jaw-dropping wall full of hand-built Manson electrics - people have admired Hugh Manson's work on this very Forum without realising what they were looking at...

Cheers - C

From one Jimmy to another( :lol: ), I live in London and have trouble finding a good guitar shop. For example, Coda Music. Thats one of my best guitar shops but the ones you want, you have to order from there website or phone them up.
I can understand how you want to be sure about the guitar your about to spend over a grand on.

In the end your probably going to have to just find an internet vendor with a good return policy and buy the one you think you'd like most. If you don't think you like it much you'll have to return it and try the other. Unfortunately that's the way it works when you live too far away to do a A/B test in person.
