Any old furniture polish will do. Whatever you use to wipe down your guitar should work just fine.

Furniture polish, right. Though we're always told to avoid polish with silicone in it. Sometimes that's easy - and sometimes the can doesn't seem to want to tell you much about what's inside. If in doubt...

Dan Erlewine recommends a soft cloth and a firm elbow.

Conservators of old master paintings use Q-Tips and plenty of saliva - truly...

Frankly all I usually use is a dry chamoise and maybe some hot breath.

I use Martin guitar polish on the body of my guitars, so when I change strings, I clean it off with the Martin guitar polish, on my guitar, with the maple fretboard.

If in doubt Fender's got a product out on the market right now and if they didn't think it was safe I wouldn't think that they would put it out. They call Fender or Fender Mequires fretboard conditioner. Any Fender dealer should carry this.

Take care, I've an idea that conditioner is intended for rosewood and ebony fingerboards. "Feeds and nourishes wood..." The OP was asking about maple 'boards.

Saliva and hot moist breathe are excellent ways to ........ clean your maple board. Works like a charm, and won't hurt a thing. I also like the Fender/Meguiars products a lot. I have restored some pretty rough finishes with a lot of elbow grease, and those polish/waxes.

Now who would want to spit on their guitar's fretboard to clean it?
