Hi, Do all '57 RI strats share the same components? I recently bought a RI 57 Heavy Relic strat (S/N starts with a V) and I'm trying to get some info on the specs. So besides the heavy relic finish everything should be the same as a regular 57 right? Thank you and have a nice day.

Great purchase. When you look at the specs I think it's the closest you can get to a real 57. The detail is really impressive, the way the wood is cut, the contours, hardware, electrics, everything. The only difference is that the Re-issue has a 5 way pick up selector rather than the 3 way it would have had. The pickups are particularly good. I don't know why they refer to them as 'hand-wound' when no pick up by Fender was ever hand wound. They always used a machine of one kind or another. I think it's a great looking guitar. Because it's faithful to the original 57 they will all have the same parts.

The best bet is to contact fender with your serial.
The pickups could be 57/62s particularly if they have beveled edges.
I have never heard of this model having "handwound" pickups.
The "handwound" variety have the winder guiding the wire onto the bobbin and are generally characterized either by abby or josefina and the date or hw the winders initials bp cg ld etc and the date.
:D
