The quack is back!

You were right about the phasing between the middle and bridge pickups.

Since I couldn’t change the braided wire of the Phat Cat, I changed the wiring for the neck and middle. I used the existing wires and just swapped the hot wireS with the ground wires.

I did cut a little wood out of the center cavity to make this fit. I used the existing wires and unfortunately the ground wires weren’t long enough To run the routed path. So I dug a little path, allowing the pickguard to sit flat.

Love the sound between the V-Mod and the Phat Cat. Plenty of quack and a great sound. I may be partial to positions 2 and 4 after all this effort.

I’m still struggling with the truss rod and some low e buzz. Even after clearing the ‘gunk’ in the truss rod, I can’t get any Allen keys to grip. I have an entire set of keys that don’t work. Even the fender provided one doesn’t grip.

Hey all, looking for some advice/recommendations regarding a new wiring setup.

Mods so far/Current setup:

Neck p/u: Custom Shop ‘69
Middle p/u: Eric Johnson (RW ‘63)
Bridge p/u: Phat Cat (Seymour Duncan P90)
Changed string tree for GraphTech.
Blocked Tremolo with Maple.

So, I ordered a 250k push push volume pot, some wire and an S-1 Volume knob w/ cap.

I plan on doing the ‘David Gilmour Mod’ where the Neck pickup can be used with the Bridge or with all 3 pickups simultaneously.

My questions:

Does anybody have a comprehensive diagram for this modification? Drilling and adding a flick switch as Gilmour did seems much simpler than installing an S-1, but I’m up for the challenge. The links I found on previous posts mostly seem blown out.

Are there any pitfalls I should be avoiding?

Are there other wiring options available that I don’t know of? I saw phase switching, but I’m not so keen on that idea. How about putting a 250k/500k Volume pot and switching between the two with the S-1? I’m spitballing here!

I love experimenting and have learned a lot on this forum. Searching for some killer tone with some quirks, watcha got?

Thanks!
