I am thinking of going with the EMG pups but I dont want to have to take every thing apart to get to the battery. So I am thinking of drilling a hole from the control cavity to the trem cavity big enough fo the battery wires to run through. Since my trem is now blocked I can remove one spring and velcro the battery in there. Much easier to get to. Is this crazy? H.

It has been a long time since I took a Strat apart but wouldn't it be easier to run the wires along with the wire that goes to the ground on the tremelo?

Mike,
save the drill mate. I just installed a mid boost and didnt need to drill the earthwire hole any wider, heres what you do.
1 cut the top of the battery terminal.
2 heat the positive terminal(red) with the soldering iron and remove the wire from it.
3 thread the red wire that was to the positive terminal from the pickup cavity through the earthwire hole and re-solder it in the trem cavity to the positive battery terminal.
4 thread the black wire through the earthwire hole into the pickup cavity and then into the jack socket cavity and connect it to the stereo jack.

couldnt be simpler and you dont have to drill the guitar. Its about the only part of emg instalation that is easy. Pay particular attention to how the shielded wire with the white wire inside splits on the volume pot grounding. that one had me stumped for days.

all the best mate
