Hi folks. Want to run something past you all since I'm not even sure what I'm considering is feasible. I'd like to drop a set of Seymour Duncan Hotrails in my new American Elite Strat. Normally I think this would be fairly straight forward but in my case I have S1 switching which is really cool. I'd like to be able to split the rails using the S1 and just have them behave normally when i don't press the S1. Is that feasible? If so how would I wire it?

thanks in advance for any assistance provided...

How many rails does the planned " set of Seymour Duncan Hotrails" include?
What do you want the switch positions to be in each of the S1 positions? Any other requests, components..?

Now, I'm no wiring guru myself, but there are quite a few S1 diagrams for Strats available. Some HSS wirings might fit right in, but tell us more, please.

The OP wants a wiring diagram for an HHH setup with the S1 switching system for coil tap and split.

Well, here's a wiring diagram for the hotrail humbuckers from Iron Gear, hope this helps a lot. :)

That nice diagram doesn't have an S1 switch, or any capability to split the railbuckers...

Splitting the buckers is simply a matter of grounding the green/white junction.
The S1 switch is a 4PDT switch, so it is a simple matter of connecting each of those junctions to each of 3 of the 4 Common connections on the S1.
The Normally Open connections on the S1 would then be grounded.

Like this, but a 3rd set of contacts would be used, such as the top two black contacts on pole-1

However....
This will not preserve the current functions of the S1 switch... whatever that is on the Elite.

Note that the colors for the Irongear pickups are not the same as the Hot Rails...
Duncan Got Rails would translate the above drawing to:

Black - Pickup Hot to selector Switch
Red and White - Tie together to S1 switch for coil tap
Green and bare - Ground

That also does not appear to the the same switch that Fender uses.

Here's a link to the Duncan page:
https://www.seymourduncan.com/blog/wiri ... -way-blade

All of the information you need is there... The Duncan page assumes a single P-P pot, so wires the coil tapping through the 5-way switch using only one set of contacts on the P-P. I'm not sure the reason for using the red wire from the middle pickup to the switch, that could be for hum cancelling in the 2 and 4 positions when the coils are tapped.
