I've seen Trower in a very small club in KC's Westport area (Whispers) around 96'. Aprox 100 capicity. He used two full stacks & had them cranked. You didn't hear it, you felt it in your chest, especially when he got them strings shakin'. Made my chest feel like a speaker cabinet itself, vibrating.

YNGWIE MALMSTEEN - 1985. I was up front, got one of his picks, and cracked a couple of ribs on the d_M barrier they set up in front of the stage.

BUT IT WAS WORTH IT!!!

What did you say again?????

Easily, it had to be Ritchie Blackmore in 1972 when Deep Purple was touring to promote the (then) new Machine Head album.

I think it's Blacmore for sure. I heard that Deep Purple is in the Guiness World Book Of Records for being the loudest band in the world. It also states that they were even louder than a 747 jet taking off the ground. Blackmore also always had an old Revox reel to reel tape recorder rolling on stage between his guitar and his amp, for the tape recorder to act as the pre-amp. Although Deep Purple primarily uses Jon Lord to push his organ into overdrive to get that distorted sound rather than Blackmore because Blackmore always played clean, and left the distortion in Deep Purple up to Jon Lord to push his organ amps hard to get the distortion to make up for Blackmore's clean playing.

Not only that Blackmore had his Marshalls blasting in the Marshall factory and modded his Marshall with higher ouput transformers to put out 285 watts a piece. Both stacks put out about 500 watts total and he'd be there in the Marshall factory with the thing cranked up sayiing to take this resistor our or no take that capacitor out or no try this here or no try that there with the thing cranked up and the people in the Marshall factory were looking at him like he was a total nutcase.

Im going to nominate myself. There was a local music store called L&M Music that for years wouldn't sell Fender. They did have a Custom shop on display that they badly warped and mistreated. They would show this strat to all the customers and bad mouth Fender. One day I walked in and started playing a Gibson and asked for some time with it alone. I walked over and grabbed the fender, found the largest encloser with head (which was HUGE), jacked the volume, and let that bad boy rip. It still sounded great, and my ears rang for days. I got kicked out for life.

Brilliant! Another poster has already mentioned Fast eddie, from Motorhead. Loudest gig I've ever been at Glasgow Apollo, circa 1979ish 8) Lemmy was pretty loud too 8)

I saw Weezer in a small club once. When they came out for an encore, it was literally so loud that my ears stopped working. Like, my ability to hear was maxed out. But, then I guess that was mostly the crowd and not Rivers' strat...
