Hey all you good people!
Yesterday I got my new Fender Player Strat and it's amazing!
I truly love it and I think the Pau Ferro looks really nice.
However, I quickly saw that all the dot inlays looks a bit weird, like someone smudge something on them?
Does anyone know what this is or if you can just get it off with some lemon oil or something?

I bought the guitar legit from one of the biggest guitar stores in Sweden so it shouldn't be anything wrong with it.

Have you tried cleaning the dots?

Use mineral spirits or lighter fluid, applied sparingly with a Q-tip at the affected areas only.

No I haven't, I didn't want to touch it before I checked with someone what it might be.
At first I thought it would just be smudge or some dirt, but you can clearly see it on every dot :/

The fretboard isn't just raw dry timber it will have be treated, oiled or I suspect even stained with PF to make it look more attractive. It is just the residue of this process on the dots.

You can clean it off but, if it is a stain, the cleaning might lighten the timber around the dots which, I suspect will look worse than leaving it alone and playing it. The dots will clean up over time through playing.

Thanks for your reply John!
Yeah I figured it was some kind of residue and I have no problem with it as long as it's nothing to be worried about.
But do you know how one can treat Pau Ferro? The guys at my local guitar shop says it's the same as with rosweood, just go with lemon oil but is that true?

To my eyes it looks like it may be sanding marks, if the dots were to high- they would have been sanded flush.
If thats the case, find a specialty pen, w/ a red brown stain and touch up the lighter colored areas.
Or
Return it for a different guitar/neck.
