I am thinking of buying a Strat Guitar but I am not sure which one to buy.
I would really like to know the difference between an American and a standard. I know the standard strat is made in Mexico and costs less.
Why should I pay more for an American Strat over a Standard Strat???

I am thinking about buying the Standard Fat Strat. I like to play blues and contemporary Christian music.

Can anyone help me out?

Standard Strats are great if you are looking to just own a strat guitar.

However!

If you want a guitar that will become your MAIN ax an American is the way to go. The rolled edges on the fretboard, the hardware and the better pickups are all features worth the price.

I have the the 50th American. Sounds and plays amazing.

My rule of thumb is to buy the most guitar you can afford. You want to buy something that you're going to actually play, not put in a corner when you find it's just not as good as you were looking for.

If you can afford an American Series strat, go for it. Maybe a Highway One (great value!) strat would be more in your price range?

Best thing to do is go to Guitar Center (yuck!) and play a bunch of strats in your price range, thru an amp that is similar to your own.

the american strats generally have better craftmenship and electronics, but some mexican strats are great... check into some like the deluxe players strat, they are great guitars, which are comparable to the americans, but will save you about 300 dollars

I like the crafstmanship of the American Strats, however I've had some good MIM Strats also. I think you just have to go out and play some of each...then you will know what you like.

It's not the same world I've bought a Deluxe Mexican strat and I've had a lot of problems with the neck the bridge.... and i've found the guitar cheap. Now I've bought a American Standard strat and she was perfect the first time i've played with her in the music store and i was the first one to play with. A lot of difference in the quality and the sound.
