Hello,

Just bought a second-hand USA Standard 1999. However, I think the tremolo arm that came with it is a bit looser than what I'd expect. I would like to find a tremolo arm that would fit tighter, but I don't know which arm to buy... there are only generic indications like "Fender Stratocaster tremolo arm", but I have a few trem-arms of different thickness at home and none of them fit perfectly like they fit on some of my other strats (e.g., my Made in Brazil Fender has a thicker arm while my Tagima strat clone uses a thinner one, although the bridge is 100% compatible with USA Fender larger vintage saddles).

In short: which tremolo arm should I buy for my USA Strat 1999?

Thanks in advance.

If it is a plug in / pop in tremolo arm, you may need to adjust some tightening set screw on the tremolo block.
If it is a screw arm, a tension spring is missing. It is easy to loose, buy some.

Thank you for the explanation. I'll check this out... I'm out of time for playing these days, but your hypothesis is very plausible.

This is the guitar:

If the trem is like this: https://reverb.com/item/11608389-1999-u ... olo-bridge
Then the trem arm should be this: https://shop.fender.com/en-US/parts/tre ... 54000.html

A little plumber's tape on the trem arm threads is a quick fix. Probably the inventor of that trick meant it to be temporary, but for many it becomes permanent.

My strat doesn't have these "glossy" block saddles, they're actually "matte". I'll open the back cover and check the bridge state this night.

My strat doesn't have this kind of block. I wonder if those springs would stay steady inside the tremolo arm hole. Look at the pictures below:

https://1drv.ms/u/s!AgbQyFh9sfROhZZ8AQb8hdhcxnFaDg

The interesting thing is, my strat saddles look like the ones found on more recent Deluxe/Elite models, but the tremolo arm role is threaded like on the less expensive models. Also, my tremolo block doesn't have any hole like the ones you've shown at the picture you've attached.

Yours is American standard series.
The one above is the deluxe.
The saddles look similar but the deluxe are chrome shiny and the normal stds have the same shape but a duller powder coat. :D
