I bought a strat on ebay. I'm trying to identify when and what it is. I have a few codes from under the next (once removed) one is a 6 digit number with I in front of it. The machine heads are blank, with no stamps/labels and the head has what looks like a decal logo.

After a brief bit of research, looks ad though it could be an 89 I series Strat?

Anyone know anything about these?

I'd start with a little more reliability with the identification. To be helpful in any way, the forum will need pics. Full front & back, details (neck end and neck heel, headstock both sides, electronics and so on, as many and as high res as possible).

But to start, clarify the "under the next (once removed)" 6 digits etc. part. Do you mean the guitar has a serial number on the backside of the neck, near the body?
If so, does it have a 'Made in Japan' text there, too? Or marks that there was one, but someone removed it?
And if so, and if the serial is legit, there were a lot of Japanese Strat models in that '89is era. Those pics would give some pointers of which this might be.

"Codes from under the neck (once removed)" most likely.
A couple of other typos look like this was autocorrect or speech-to-text.

+1

To the OP: Detailed pics would be a *BIG* help in answering your questions.

The OP joined, posted one time and last visited on September first, so we probably wait in vain for the pics.

BTW, this time can't even blame the first post delay, the first answer came just 2 days after the question.
