Hi All!!

I have a project guitar with a Fender Strat neck, from a 2010 MIM deluxe player which I may think is a reissue. I am having one heck of a time finding tuning pegs that fit, the vintage inline, screw on the left machines fit okay, but the bushings (Ferrell's) are too small for the holes. The first owner said it originally had the gold machines, but my guitar has everything chrome. I love this neck it is awesome, but I need help finding the right machines. Please help if you can. (I also contacted customer service here)

Thanks
Best
Stephen :)

Did you find tuning machine ?

Look here, you may need to take some measurement on your guitar.

The vintage style machine heads used by Fender certainly have a smaller diameter post/capstan than those used in Klusons.

When I have fitted Klusons I find it easiest to enlarge the original collars than try to remove them.

It wasn't always that way.

Prior to 2006 Fender used a premium Gotoh vintage-style tuner that was dimensionally identical to the original Kluson Deluxe machine. Thus it was possible to swap tuners without any fit issues whatsoever.

In 2006 Fender, in its infinite wisdom, began using a "budget-concious" vintage-style tuner made by Ping and while these machines *look* similar to the the Gotoh and Kluson tuners, the outside diameter of the bushings are smaller than true vintage-spec types.

Kluson does offer a variety of bushing sizes to address this issue. I think they're about ten or twelve bucks for a set of six.

I am guessing that the bushes are too small for the headstock holes.
There are mainly 2 sizes of bushes used by Fender, US vintage are 8.8mm and Mexican vintage are 9.2mm. Another wrinkle is the made by Gotoh Japan, US tuner posts are 1/4" and the Mexican made by Ping Taiwan slightly smaller at 6mm.

This irritating lack of standardisation has been the cause of much frustration for many years.

Probably as a result of this Gotoh has recently started to include the 9.2mm bushes in retail packs of vintage style SD91 tuners and it seems they are also available on US Ebay sites as separate bushes.
