I have a 93 MIM strat that I am replacing the pickups on. I recently bought a set of Vintage Noiseless PU's that I was planning on just substituting them in place of the original PU's. The noiseless PU's came with 1 meg pots and a 220 K ohm resistor. The wiring diagram didn't include the placement of the resistor, so I'm wondering how its supposed to be connected. I'm assuming that the pots, resistor & capacitor were meant to be a "matched" set, so I'm prepared to do a complete rewire. In reading some of the previous posts on this subject, it was suggested that the 1 meg pots were overkill and the 250 K pots might limit the highs. If the 220 K ohm resistor that was supplied with the noiseless PUs was connected across the hot terminal and wiper arm of the 1 meg volume pot, the resistance of the combination would go between 0 and 182 K ohms. Compare that with a 250 k ohm pot without any added resistance and you get 0 to 250 K ohms. It seems to me that the 1 meg combination would limit even more highs than a 250 K ohm set up. Does any one know the correct wiring diagram for these noiseless PU's? Sorry for the long dialog. Thanks!!!

i also ran into the problem of the $@!&#* wiring diagram with my vintage noiseless set. i screwed around with them for about 2 days, then i got frustrated and gave up.

the best advice that i have, if you are having trouble deciphering the terrible diagram, is to take the guitar into a shop, and have them install the pickups.

it might be a little pricey, but the shop will get it done it done right, hopefully the first time.

Thanks for your post, Ben. I know that there are a lot of these PU's being sold, so I'm suprised that someone (Maybe even Fender) doesn't have a solution. They are great sounding pups, so I'm anxious to get them installed. How do you like them?

i love those pickups. they sound terrific.

they allow it to be easier to make the guitar sing sweetly, or make it bite harshly. its really an amazing difference.

you will love those pups.

when i got mine i got 2 tone pots and a volume pot. I wired the 0.22k from (with the pot lugs pointing towards you, as you look from above at the tone pot with the shaft pointing down) the right hand lug to the base of the tone pot. the other resistor and capacitor from the middle lug on the volume pot to the left hand lug. i didnt wire them parralell i went mid lug, capacitor, resistor, lug. i cant remember what values they were, i just experimented with different ones.
