This is my first post so I apologize if this is in the wrong place.

Anyways, back in 2013 I purchased a Fender Custom Shop NOS Time Machine Series Strat......On Ebay. It is sunburst and came with the certificate of authenticity. It has the Abby pickups.....and........It was a lefty strung righty. Which is how I play. (I'm right handed but picked up the guitar as a kid and held it lefty, no one told me different until it was too late to go back!) Imagine how "RIGHT" this felt for me. My whole life I have had to modify right handed guitars for myself. Always having to buy double cutaway guitars and ripping the knobs off so I don't turn them with my arm while I'm playing.

Now I know there are a few of us weirdos around. Eric Gales, Albert King, Dick Dale, Elizabeth Cotton etc...But not enough to make a full on custom shop lefty strung righty strat surely?! (Except for Dick Dale) And not only that....It has all gold hardware and the case it came in is unlike any case I have seen. It is a G and G case that is brown with what looks like paisley designs engraved into the leather.
I'm hoping some of you say, "Oh yes, in 2006 they made a few of these etc...". But for the last few years, I cannot find another like it anywhere online. Did I get ripped off? Do I have a crazy rare guitar? The serial number is R12124. The date says: 03/07/06. It is signed but someone names Alex Nicholas. Have you ever see a lefty strung righty made by Fender other than the Dick Dale model? Sorry for the rambling. I just really want to know!!

Contact Fender customer support directly. They can tell you what that serial number was originally attached to, if anything.
The reverse stringing could have been done by a previous owner... it's not difficult and only requires that the nut be re-cut... less than $100.

The case is probably a western tooled case made by G and G for fender.
I think it is vinyl rather than leather?
The norm for the 69 custom shop was a black tolex case with an orange interior but you never know there can be the exception.
Serial dater says 69 strat.
Fender may have the floor shop info if you contact them. :D

Testing the serial number with the https://www.fender.com/product-registra ... ial-search search engine gives three results. :?
There's a "CUSTOM INSTRUMENT" with no pic,
then a "1951 Relic® Nocaster®" and a pic of a BSB Tele,
and finally a "69 STRAT CUSTOM" again with no pic...

So contact Consumer Relations as CB91710 suggested. It'll be interesting to see their answer.

On the forum, usually any reliable ID help requires pics - a serial number (as seen above) won't go far.

Thank you for all the replies. I contacted the custom shop by telephone and they zero record of this build with gold hardware. I understand the nut reversal is easy . I do them myself. But this but reversal looks like it was done at the custom shop. And you are correct. It is the western vinyl g and g case. What the gal at Fender seems to think is that this was possibly a one off that someone had made special with the gold hardware, special case, but reversal etc....thanks for all your help!
