Hi Everyone, I need some help. I've recently played on a Fender Strat VG that is not on the Fender list. The current models come in Black, Blizzard Pearl, and 3-Tone. The one I saw was NOT any of these three colors. It was a RED 3 tone with a chestnut neck. I checked to see if there were earlier models and I can;t seem to find this in any store. The one I played was a used Stratocaster VG.

Does anyone have any information about this specific model and its color?

Thank you!

Never heard of a 3-tone Red one. It could have been done by the original owner. Did you ask ?

Where did you see this guitar ? Are photos available ? :?:

Fender has been known to produce guitars for NAMM and other special shows - but I've never seen a photo of a Red one. When the VG was introduced only the Black and 3-Tone Sunbursts were shown and demoed at NAMM and at dealers.

I own the newest color - Blizzard Pearl - won here on the forum.

It's made in USA and what it is, is a Strat with a built in sythesizer. Not like the Strat with the Roland built in synth because the Roland has to be used with an optional midi floorboard, whereas with the Strat VG the complete synth is built right into the guitar.

So you think it is this model -

It does look similar, but is very different - and again, Red is not a listed color. :!:

Hi Gil, I saw this guitar in a store in NYC down in the village. I played it and had the sound as the current VG (black, sunburst 3T, and Pearl (the one you just showed)). This one was very unusual and when I asked the follow he did not know so I am going to go back tomorrow to ask the owner where this version came from. I have to say that the sound was a bit "warmer" and "brighter" in some cases but not a whole lot you can get out of it unless you played it at home for a day or two. The neck was like a orange/red chestnut color. It was about $200 more than the standard 3.

BTW, how do you like your lucky won guitar VG? Can you compare it to your others? Thanks!

Maybe it was ordered special from Fender or possible repainted through a guitar dealer, who know's. Some guy could have even went through a Fender authorized dealer and had one ordered in Red and if it's a new one your talking about may the dealer ordered it custom like that. That model you showed was the Strat with the built in Roland synth. Don't let these 2 get you mixed up. The Straocaster with the built in Roland is not the same as the Stratocaster VG (even though they both have synths).

I take the back! The Strat VG does also use the Roland synth, it's just that in the Roland Strat you have to use a floorboard along with it. Wht the Stratocaster VG, it still has a (Roland) syth in all without using the floorboard. It could be the place or dealer you tried it from got the 2 models confused together and maybe it's a Roland Stratocaster instead. See on this site if that one's in Red & if it is, he just got 'em mixed up from one another.
