I had this problem when I first got my strat (it hadn't been played in like 3 years). I used a small awl (I think that's the name, it's a poker thing) that came in a craftsman screwdriver set to push the bullet out.

i cut the ends off a wooden cocktail stick and use that to poke in the hole to free the ball-ends up.
I get the problem with dimazio's if i tune sharp for any reason.

I've had that happen too.

Cut off a section of your old low E string (the one you are changing) and push it into the hole at the top of the bridge to push the stuck bullet end out.

Good Luck.

+1

I've done this too and it worked for me with no problem. I always save the E string (6th) for that purpose.

Yeah but like I said, the way the bullets were stuck were with the string stsill on them so I tried forcing them out with the string to pull the string out. Not just the bullet was stuck without some of the string attached. I just kept trying to shove the string through but that would budge the bullet out. So I went into the backplate with the pen pressed on the bullet and rubbed it and it started to come out with the rest of the string.

I've never had the problem of bullets getting stuck in the body. I did have that problem the other day with the ball ends, as my local shop was out of the bullets the last time I took it in, and I left it with them to fix a crackly tone knob, and when they gave it back they had changed the strings to ball ends. The other day when I was putting fresh strings on, the balls were stuck. First time I'd ever had that happen, as I'd been using bullets every time I'd changed them.

Same thing happened to me too. The shape of the bullets are not right.

Brilliant! If duct tape doesn't work, try paperclips!
