Hi I’m having trouble installing my Seymour Duncan stk a-4 pickups with the Clapton kit on my strat.
There are 4 wires in these pickups and I really don’t know what to do
Just wondering if anyone has them installed or knows of a wiring diagram for this particular mod?
Or if anyone can send me a pick of theirs wired up?
Thanks in advance for any help

Wich kit ?

Here ?

https://guitarelectronics.com/fender-mi ... itar-bass/

These pickups ? ; https://www.seymourduncan.com/pickup/cl ... k-plus-set

________________
All Seymour Duncan humbuckers with four-conductor hookup wires incorporate a standard wire color code.

https://www.seymourduncan.com/faqs/what ... olor-codes

GREEN = start of adjustable/south coil
RED = finish of adjustable/south coil
BLACK = start of stud/north coil
WHITE = finish of stud/north coil

For standard series humbucking operation on a 4-Conductor wired humbucker the White & Red wires are soldered together and taped; Green is ground and Black is Hot Output. The bare wire is always grounded.

I hope its help :)

Here's an SD wiring for three stacks in a regular Strat: https://www.seymourduncan.com/wp-conten ... _1V_2T.pdf

So Ollyhicks, does that help you to transform the guitar into this: https://p4.zdassets.com/hc/theme_assets ... 1_SISD.pdf

Hi guys yes those details are correct but my pickups don’t have a green wire just a white, a black, a red and a bare wire, does the bare one just act as the green one?
Sorry if I sound stupid I’m just a beginner trying to learn how to mod guitars haha :D

OK, you have the "stack plus" version, should have read the topic better.
Here's the basic Strat version for those: https://www.seymourduncan.com/wp-conten ... _1V_2T.pdf

The whites go to the switch, the black & bare to ground (pot back, unless you intend to do a star ground).
Reds get insulated off; don't trust tape with those red wire ends, use a piece of heat shrink tube.

Not the easiest wiring for a beginner, IMHO. If that beginner description covers also your soldering skills, be sure to practice it until you get a nice clean joint every time.

And keep us updated on the result, preferably with a pic or two.

Jmattis, another great answer from you.

What I learn long time ago;

There is a simple and safe way to insulate a wire like red.
It's not easy to explain.

1- You strip some of the insulating from the wire, 3/8 inch is enough.
2- You hold this bare part (copper) with long nose pliers with one hand.

3- With cutting pliers in the other hand, you push on the insulation (1/8 to 1/4 inch) of the wire without cutting the copper wire.

4-And while keeping the insulation pushed, you cut the copper flush with the insulation.

The insulation when relaxing will cover the copper part and even more ensuring perfect insulation without heat shrink or insulating tape.

Ok I think I’ve wired it up correctly but I’ve only used tape on the red wires, if they are not correctly insulated could this be a reason as to why it’s not working?
Cheers for all the help

If the tape insulate the bare wire, this not the issue.
Check your solder if all the wire are at the right place, Are they ?

Doh, why didn't you start with a pic of your current wiring and tell it's not working..?

And: how is it not working? No sound at all in any switch position? Just the booster not working? Noisy? Wha?

Anyways, first check the wiring with a diagram - draw one if you already haven't (it's useful now, and also later with repairs or if you sell the guitar) and post a pic here for a checkup.
If all is OK, my next guess would be the solder joints.

Hi guys I’ve followed these steps and I’m literally getting nothing, at first I used some random copper wire I found in my garage that looked similar (which since I’ve realised I shouldn’t really have done) just for any new bits of wire I needed for the boost kit and I had it working before I installed the new pickups, it wasn’t working 100% tho.
But now I can’t get anything I’ve replaced the other wire with some new 22awg wiring and still nothing I get a buzz in the amp when I touch the earth wire at the audio jack is that a clue to anything?

Thank you for your help it’s been very much appreciated :D

You mean output jack not input jack.
Issue on new wiring or mods are always bad wiring or / and bad solder
