Hello guys,

I bought this guitar in an used condition and, at that time, the seller told me that it was a LoneStar MIM. I never doubted that because it has a "Special Edition" sticker on it and it feels really better than standards MIM out there.

However, searching the serial number in fender's website, it looks like a Standard strat. I have no idea what is and, if it's a standard strat, what the "Special Edition" means.

Serial Number: MZ 8115388

The only thing I've changed is the bridge pickup, that it was originally a humbucker.

Thank you very very much!!

The serial number gives this result: "GC PROP STD STRAT HSS RW SSB"
That translates to a special edition guitar made for GC (GuitarCenter), the base model was a Standard Stratocaster (HSS). The special qualities can be anything, sometimes it's just the color, sometimes the pickups or other stuff in the electronics.
RW is for rosewood fretboard, SSB for Sienna Sunburst.

And googling with that result brings up a page with original specs and a bit of more background info; http://www.jlaforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=201431851
Note that the year in the serial and the actual build year can be different.

Quote:
The Special Edition Sticker is due to the fact that Fender produced this particular guitar model only for Guitar Center. The Base Model is a Standard Stratocaster HSS, but Guitar Center requested it be made from Ash wood with a Sienna Sunburst finish. This is what makes it different (Special) from other Standard Stratocaster HSS guitars.
