A few conflicting views on the web - is it hit and miss or are there specific models with different radii?

This is the site I use as reference for JV guitars.

Like Fender USA, Japan also has an altered universe and makes some modern spec. guitar models based off of original vintage designs. Anything may be had for the right price.

I'm not sure when Fender Japan began using the terms "Vintage" and "Current" for different model series, but that is/was one hint for the radius - although the domestic/export models, and the latter with area specific produts (Europe version etc.) confuse things.
And then the Contemporary Strats with even flatter radii than the 9.5"...

BTW, on a guitar over thirty years old, the original radius would most likely be long gone. Could be "natural compound" or just in general flatter than the nominal value.

If the radius is a critical factor, measure before buying - both at the nut and at the last frets.

Why would the original radius be gone? My 76 Tele has the original radius and (worn) frets.

For example; fret levelings, refrets, worn-by-playing, intentional compounding from 7.25" at the nut to flatter towards the body, fallaway...

The original radius can of course be preserved, but IRL it often isn't.
