I have a question and hope u guys can help me
I have the vip 3 and 2 guitars one Jackson and the other a fender lonestar. It looks like on the lonestar when you let go of the strings there’s this feedback noise coming from the amp but when muted is gone and when playing there’s a background noise when playing high gain on the bridge pickups ( it’s an HSS). Other styles that guitar sounds great. The Jackson seems to have no problems at all but when I plug in the strat to a plug-in on my computer it sounds find 80% with high gain.

So, just to confirm and clarify:

1) Plugged into an amplifier with high gain:
HSS Jackson is quiet but HSS Strat is noisy, both guitars on the bridge pickup alone.

2) Noise occurs when not touching strings and disappears when touching strings.

3) Plugged into computer, not the amp:
The HSS Strat loses most of the noise that was occurring when pugged in the amp.

Is that all 100% correct?

Please confirm answer to above question before moving on to these following questions:

Is there any more info?
Such as ....
Same instrument cable being used for both guitars and both inputs?
Same effects used in all scenarios?
Computer software is not employing a noisegate effect that the amp is not seeing?
Any other differences at all between the two scenarios?
Strat has a coil tap feature?

1) correct but only the strat is HSS. Funny thing when splitting the humbucker to single coil, it’s a little quieter.

2) correct, a Feedback noisy. Jackson doesn’t do that.

3) correct.

Sorry I should of explained everything with more details. Kind of stress out lol.

I use the same 2 cables I have on both guitars and same issue.

Yes.

Computer software is not employing a noisegate effect that the amp is not seeing?

On the amp( peavey vypyr vip 3) the noise gate can’t be adjusted but it’s active, if it wasn’t then there will be noise coming from the Jackson. the plugin I’m using on my computer is on.

Any other differences at all between the two scenarios?

Nothing I can’t think of right now. But will let you know.

Strat has a coil tap feature?

Yes it has button on the volume knob to split the humbucker to single coil.

Thank you so much for trying to help I really appreciate it.

I like all the noises my guitar and amp make it makes them seem alive.
Playing live with drums and bass you won't notice it anyway.
I don't know the answer but my Tele does something similar.

I've been thinking about this and I admit it is puzzling but that can happen when you're dealing with verbal descriptions.

I believe it's possible your guitar may be equipped with a coil tapping option accessible via a button built into your volume knob. That might be the first thing to look at.

Without having the equipment in my hands it's hard to know for sure but I would bet that a grounding issue is at least part of the problem and may possibly be the entire problem.
The touching versus no touching thing seems a compelling clue.

Some things to look for:
- check all the solder connections for soundness and repair if necessary
- examine the shielding if the guitar is shielded and ensure the shielding is well grounded
- there are other things to consider as well, like the pickup itself or the switch(es)

If this is beyond your skill-set, take the guitar to a competent tech.

I'd read the no-touch=noise, touch-the-strings=quiet as a sign that the strings grounding is OK.

Otherwise, I'd agree with your to-do list.

I’ll try to look for another tech. Been to 3 and they don’t know what’s going on. They didn’t bother to check inside the guitar. They only recommended to change the pickups so I can pay them. Yeah what if the issue continues...maybe is because they don’t play modern metal.
Thanks for the help I’ll try to post a video.
