The title pretty much says it.
In the past have had the middle wide open and just a tone for the bridge and neck pickups but found it pretty dam bright, in that middle position.
Have also had master volume, master tone, and blender pot for the bridge and neck pickup, that has worked pretty well for me but just want to try a two tone control arrangement again.
Thinking: single control for bridge and for the other control share middle and neck.
Or pretty much the opposite of that single control for the neck and share the other for bridge and middle.

what do you guys do??
Thanks for the input
John

I'm more than happy with a Tone control for the neck and one for the middle and bridge combined. Or indeed, Tone for the neck, tone for the middle and no tone for the bridge.

Traditional wiring puts the #1 tone on the neck and #2 on the middle.
"Delta Tone" and some alternatives (from the factory) including the American Special move the #2 tone to the bridge.
Since I rarely/never use the middle pup alone, that is perfect for me... one tone controls the neck and #4 slot position, while the other controls the bridge and #2 slot position.
With the #2 tone wired to the middle pup, you get both pots in parallel in the #4 slot.

Thanks for the input guys!
I think I going to wire it pretty much standard.
T1 neck T2 middle and bridge and down the road (next string change) put in a push/pull so I can take that middle out when desired.

Far as I'm concerned, that is the most generally versatile wiring scheme practical.
By practical I mean without drilling or cutting for more pots/switches and without using additional circuits or special parts.
You can wire it up using 3 conventional pots and it works.
Yes, there are some fine nuances of adjustability with other arrangements but I do not believe there are any that are worth giving up a blender for.
I have this wiring on two of my Strats; my two most played Strats.
Anything else would be a step backward for me.

My two cents.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.
