Howdy,

New here, but have made a few posts on the Amplifier forum. But now I feel legit and am honored to be the proud owner of my first Fender guitar, and it's a Stratocaster.

Have a new American Deluxe in Olympic White Pearl on the way. Shipped out today from a gentleman in KC (not MF either, although we've done quite a bit of business).

Would rather not buy a guitar without first playing it, but I'm kind of in the sticks, a hundred miles from a real city, and so far I've had very good luck doing just that.

It's not brand new, but was purchased then returned, with a scratch on the pickguard. Gentleman assures me that's the only flaw, and I can return it if not satisfied for any reason, and he'll pay to have it shipped back. Got a real good deal on it too. Was thinking of changing out the pickguard to a 3 ply white/black/white anyway.

Took lessons for a couple years at 10-11 and have had a guitar of some sort most of the time since. only a couple Taylors for the last 9 or 10, a beautiful 310 and a baby for my Son. But I never really applied myself.

All that changed at the end of last January. Have geared up pretty well and am just having a ball. Think I'm done buying stuff for a while.

Not to come off as a braggart, but simply to complete the intro and perhaps show that I'm a bit serious, here's a list of my new friends and loves, and a link to a pic that needs updating. Once the new Pearl and Blues Jr. arrrive, I'll take one more shot and toss that up.

Rickenbacker 360

It's like they say, if we can't see it, it doesn't exist.

That's a nice pic of the gear family. Thanks! Welcome!

Thank-you all for the greeting. I love pics myself. Even at my age, show and tell is still fun. Didn't notice a place where folks list their gear and a pic on their 'whothefugareya' page.

But the Strat won't be here until Thurs. The FedEx Dude's gonna need a sig as well. Working swingshift now, so I informed them I'll not be around after 2:45 p. No guarantee they'll intentionally come by earlier, but the dispatcher got a msg to that driver. Will be off the next day so if I miss him, it wont be the end of the world.

But it'll seem like it for ~24 hours.

This Strat is a dream. Every single aspect of it. Looks, Feel, Sound, Quality. Even the setup and how it stays in tune even with me playing on the trem (haven't had one of those since I was a kid. had figured I'd end up blocking it but it's been kinda fun.)

My first Fender. Been a Les Paul guy all my life. They're more of a b.a., but this guitar, this beautiful Fender is so sweet. Just can't get over it. Can really appreciate the differences between them. Couldn't sleep. Rolling off swingshift, dog tired as I woke early yesterday, but I couldn't wait for the neighborhood to wake up so I could turn up the amp. Had to force myself to stop and eat yesterday as I was starting to get that crappy sickly stomach feeling when you've nothing but coffee all day. Didn't even take the time to shower. Never played that much in one day before. Off all day yesterday, guitar showed up about noon. Have today and tomorrow off as well.

The guitar is wonderful, really striking. Pic's don't do it justice. Very classy color. Quite upscale when you look at it, but not loud or obnoxious looking but subtly classy. But the neck....I just can't get over how cool it looks and how awesome it feels. (I wonder if anyones bolted a strat neck on a Les Paul.)

Not crazy about the tortous pickguard, but turns out the Olympic White Pearl on this American Deluxe is more of what I'd describe as a light creme color, with very fine speckles. Had MF rush me a plane white/black/white Fender pickguard but didn't even need to take it out of it's wrapper. It's way white.

Will return it, but not sure what I'll replace it with. Maybe the brown will grow on me. It blends with the guitar very well but just not what I've had in mind. Have looked at all the others Fenders has avail, the only other option would probably be their white pearl, but not sure if I like that swirly stuff either. From what I've heard and read, sounds like on most of the after market ones the holes never line up perfectly on the Americans.

But the case it came in is a turd compared to the guitar. Nasty lookin little half guitar shaped plastic hardshell with Fender molded in. I'm going to order one of the good Fender brown tweed hardshells. Or watch e-bay. The guitar's an '07 someone bought then returned, been on the rack since. Still has the plastic junk on the back plate and pieces of it on the pickguard. Haven't even pulled it off and cleaned it yet, just been playing.
I love my Deluxe Reverb and can't wait for the Blues Junior NOS. Good news on that too. Was backordered 'till the 29th but 2 days ago I got a shipping conformation. Will be here on the 26th.
If any Fender folks who have a hand in making, selling or maintaining this company are reading, I bow to you all.
