Hey everyone,

Could i get some help here on figuring out what strat model i have here? I was given this by my uncle and he has no idea what model it is.

Serial number starts with "i" followed by 6 letters. From what i could find online, its an American made strat but it has 21 frets and i've not seen MIA strats with 21 frets before.

Hope someone can help me out.

Cheers!

Those two pics aren't enough for a very reliable ID'ing. Tuners, backside, electronics, neck pocket/heel - all would be needed with CSI.
But I assume someone (those darn uncles...) scraped off a "Made in Japan" text which should be on the headstock, under the STRATOCASTER.
That would make it a Japanese Strat, from around 1990. The model could be ST-362, but you need to take the neck off to see what markings are on the neck end and heel. This was the age of the Contemporary series, this I think is a "Standard" model. BTW, it's not all-original, those pickups tell it straight away.

And you can post pics straight on the forum if you find the imbb's pic adress (starts https; ends .jpg) and use the IMG-command. Like this:

+1

The single-ply eight-screw pickguard also seems odd......

60's style neck with two string trees and modern tuners?

I'm confused.

Here's the John Blackman info on the (Contemporary) Stratocasters Standard models.
Probably the hardest MIJ's to ID - the mix/match parts/specs from the factory added with all kinds of possible mods during the thirtysomewhat years.

But I'd believe that guitar legit, if the neck pocket/heel show what they should.
