Hi all, this PG has come from a Strat which has presumably hung in a sunny window for too long! As you can just see, one of the labels has caused an off-colour square mark. Similar to under the controls etc, but of course this one shows up. Worse than you can see in the photo.

Anyone know how to get rid of it, please? I've tried wire wool and it's made no difference...

Cheers - Peter.

Thanks for the suggestion, Chris! Bit of a performance, isn't it?! Is a pickguard the same sort of plastic as an old computer?

Wonder if ordinary bleach might work? Anyone know, or got any other ideas?

It's only a spare pickguard, so no big deal, but it's genuine AmStd and no doubt I'll be wanting to use it sometime!

Cheers - Peter.

Household bleach is chlorine based.
Peroxide is not.

ABS isn't the same as PVC.

Hydrogen peroxide and chlorine bleach should both be reasonably safe. Certainly won't dissolve the plastic, and people dump those down PVC pipes all the time.

I don't think they'll lighten the guard to match the "ghost sticker", but couldn't hurt to try.

The common fix is just to expose the plastic to sunlight. UV yellowing isn't linear -- it doesn't keep getting darker at the same rate. The ghost may always be a little lighter, but there will be much less contrast.

OK, thanks chaps. I think I'll give bleach a try first as we have it in the house.

I did try hanging it the sun last year when we had some (sun)! Didn't help, but I may not have left it long enough - probably takes more than a month...

Thanks again / cheers - Peter.
