Hello all,

I'm relatively new to playing and started out with an acoustic and have come to realize I think I would rather go the electric route. I came across this one today which appears to be a good price. Seller says it's all original except for the upgraded lace sensor pickups. I entered the serial number in the registration site and a mint green guitar popped up. Anybody see anything else that may not be original?

Thanks!

Well, with MIM's of that age, the serial number database is a) usually and b) fairly reliable when it finds the match between a serial and a guitar.

The neck looks to be what the serial says; a Mexican Classic Series 50's Strat neck.

But the body... In the last pic, from the back of the guitar, it looks like the two middle screw holes of the trem routing are level with each other. That would point to a Squier body, or something non-FMIC.

And since the guitar likely is not what the seller says it is, better check it thoroughly - including the insides. The neck pocket/end usually have markings, the routings tell a tale, and from the back it's easy to see if those are real Lace Sensors or just covers.

For a good price (in the region where it's being sold), a Partscaster with Laces could very well be a good choice. Maybe negotiate the price down so you can have it set up by a pro with the reduction.

The bridge appears to be a 2-post tremolo assembly with block saddles. Also, the backplate is missing.

Not sure if the OP plans to install an active TBX/MDX circuitry on this guitar and block up the trem. Nonetheless it's a good basis for a Blackie project.

2-post trem with block saddles with centered intonation screws.
I believe that is not a Fender bridge. Certainly not a MiM original bridge. The US block saddles are offset and work with a specific bridge design.
I'll bet you $10 that if you remove the pickguard you'll find mini pots and a "box" selector switch (typical Squier), and if you remove the neck, you'll find a hole in the body that passes through from the neck pocket to the neck plate.

That looks like a Squier Deluxe Strat bridge, part number 007-3869-000. The body could be a Dlx Squier, too.
So, still keeping my "could very well be a good choice" first impression. 8)
