hey i know this is a little too early to say this cause my birthday's next year, but should i get a tele for that birthday?

Let me elaborate. I probably (definitely) will get a second, maybe third strat. I know a lot of stuff on the tele, but would i adjust to it, because the strat is SOOOOOO comfortable, and the tele is just a slab of wood. Also i am addicted to the vibrato tailpiece on the strat. I just wanted to know other people's experiences. Will my arms and fingers feel at home on the telecaster? Hoping for an MIM. ( though i love the look of the blonde on the squier affinity tele!) Just wanted some opinions.

Happy pickin'!

p.s. this is on the tele forum, but i know i'd get more answers here, only 4 replies from different people i think! if you want answers, go to the strat forum duh!

My brother has a MIM Tele with upgraded pups. I like the sound, but can't get used to the feel and think they are - well, ugly. Maybe if I could get past the looks I would spend more time on it. The Strat feels more comfortable but if you can bounce between acousic and Strat, no reason you can't bounce between Tele & Strat after you get used to it. My Strat and Stagemaster have basically the same body but I love the neck on the Stagemaster, not only does it have 2 extra frets but it just feels better and is easier on the fingers.

I'd say that if you don't know anyone with a Tele, go to guitar shops and play them till they throw you out. If you decide you like them - buy one!

I got the Squier Affinity Telecaster yesterday and I own 2 vintage guitars and an `08 American Standard Strat. The Tele was very imprerssive for a guitar made in China. I played it for awhile at the store and bought one and I`m fussy with my guitars. I had a cheap $ 100 Strat and had to sell it because the frets edges were rough and irritated my hand. But the Squier Tele is well made and I would recommend it.

Did you know that on the first two Zeppelin albums Jimmy Page used a Tele?

Buy the tele. Its a great guitar and has things to offer in the sound and playability stakes that a strat doesnt. It will feel slightly different in the body, but i find different shapes bring out different playing styles more than different sounds do.
Notice alot of the great songwriters use tele's most of the time. They dont spend hours mucking about with boring solo's but focus on song structure. Its fitting with the ethos of the guitar. Rough ready workhorse.

yeah i have 1 acoustic as well (2 for now) and i don't mind jumping between them, but the strat seems so fitting. it's slim, and the frets are as smoothe as the finish on the neck (REALLY GOOD). And i'm not just saying these things about my $100 BULLET STRAT because i don't own an american (yet). it's because it's true. i have also set it up myself today (im thirteen, what an accomplishment); the low e was buzzing at the saddle so i restrung it, i changed the pickup heights and boy do they sound nice and smokey. I also moved a trem spring in the back and flattened the bridge block a little. To be honest with you, it sounded god-like. I am thinking about the tele cause i want something with a little more punch or just a different sound. But I will NEVER remove or replace my strat, even if it's made in China.
