Most hercules hangers and stands are nitro safe, I've used them for a few years now. Not one single problem with them, the auto grip system is safe as houses.

Gotta say the fender mini stands so far have not caused any issues...but its only been about 6months that I have been using them...both Fender,Gisbon guitars so far do not seem to be hurt in any way

Ah, you beat me to it, Snowy72! I also was going to suggest Hercules stands:

http://www.herculesstands.com/guitars/guitarstands.html

Many guitars that have nitrocellulose bodies nevertheless have polyurethane finished necks (eg, HWY-1), so hanging them by the neck is OK. (Though the EJ, for instance, has nitro on the neck too, so check what you have.)

You'd still have to pad that little arm that sticks out to cushion the back of the body. Or it is possible to position it so's it contacts the trem cover rather than the bod. Or just move it away and leave the guitar to dangle free...

Cheers - C

PS: by the way, another advantage of the Hercules stands is they are good for irregular shaped bodies, like Jazz Basses and such, that fall over sideways on ordinary stands. I've got several Hercules stands: recommended.

I'm glad that I read this post. I've never seen the Hercules stand before. I especially like the small ones that fold into almost nothing. I might have to pick one up. I could use something small, sturdy, for packing in the car, to play somewhere. This is that one that caught my eye.

Yeah....it really caught my eye, and looks very sturdy. The only question that popped into my mind, is that it's supports the guitar by it's body, rather than the neck. I wonder how easy it is to topple over sideways if slightly bumped. Maybe I can find a local store that has one, so I can play with it for a bit.

I haven't bought myself a toy in a little bit. That might satisfy my "it's time to treat myself again" crave.

I can't comment on the mini stand, as I've never used one. All I can say is the stands and hangers I have, are fantastic and very well put together. I'd say that's a good idea, go to a store and take a closer look.

Well, I'm glad that put the idea into my head. I'll have to see if Guitar Center carries any, next time I head that way. Off the top of my head, I don't recall seeing any.......but then I wasn't really looking for guitar stands either. I at least would like to look at one. Might be great to have such a small thing, when traveling in a car.

Great. I already have a full size guitar stand, but I often go to other people's homes to play, it's the small size (to toss into a gig bag or back floorboard of a car) makes it attractive. And it does look like it's built like a tank.

I've got one. It's rigged to be a small mic stand right now. They are built like tanks. Sturdy as hell. I wouldn't mind a few more.

Then it sounds like a "go" for me. So no problem with the guitar fallingi over sideways, since it's supported by the back of the body, with only a small round "thingkie"? That's my only concern. But from the pics, it sure looks strong.

I use old socks, too. I have a stand that holds 7 guitars and my Hwy1 Tele got a finish "burn" where the body touched the stand's black vinyl. I just cover the vinyl with old sweat socks and it works well enough. Three of my guitars have nitro finishes.

My best bet is back in the case. One night I may be drunk and knock the stand over on the floor!
