There is a lot of strange & beautiful wonder in my mind surrounding my new strat & our future. lol

- will I mod or will I be happy as is
- our journey ahead & new found songs together
- can I keep such a beautiful instrument safe from harm
- & of course much more

...obviously only time will tell.

Hey, I can help you with most of that, man!

- Mod or not? Leave it alone! Too beautiful to mess with.
- New found songs? Go and learn Duane Allman's solo from the live recording of Elizabeth Reed note for note. The electric guitar's answer to the Beethoven Violin Concerto. That'll keep you busy.
- Keep it from harm? You must. 50 years from now it'll look like the guitar equivalent of a Stradivarius!
- And much more. Definitely!

Don't know if that helps - but it was fun to type. Enjoy your glamorous new guitar!

Cheers - C

I spent some time & plugged this rare & beutiful creature into my mesa boogie dual rectifier & my Blues Jr (Tolex)...
Its very bright sounding which goes well with that dark sounding amp.
All I can say is awesome guitar... It plays so effortlessly...
When I play it next to my 93-94 old strat (acoustically) you can hear it is a lot brighter sounding.
I think its cause of the maple top... its definately different & I like that :D
The noisless pickups are nice & quiet. No complaints so far...
Its nice to have options in tone from the S1 switching as well. 8)
Also, I find it very easy to bend strings on this ebony fret board...
Its extremely smooth feeling (where your finger touches the fretboard behind the string).
There seems to be less 'drag' so it feels 'almost slippery' for lack of a better term.
At this stage I do not see myself doing any changes to this instrument.
If u are considering an american deluxe strat, play the FMT with the ebony fret board... its great.

I especially like the little sticker on the neck plate advising you not to throw your guitar in the garbage. Mostly people should remove stickers from guitars, but that one's a keeper! Try and follow its advice...

I completely missed Orvilleowner's joke on that 1955 Strat thread - d'uh [sound of palm slapping forehead]! Interestingly, we haven't had a follow up from that gentleman about what, on the face of it, ought to be one of the most valuable guitars on the planet. Wonder why not...?

Anyway, back to the serious business of bss's guitar. Gotta say, that ebony 'board looks utterly scrumptious - and that from a dyed-in-the-wool maple man. I love the way the knobs echo the fingerboard. And that top is going to gently mute over the years. It looks great now: 20 years on, man, it's going to look fabulous! One for the "famous Strats" thread...

Cheers - C

That's one nice looking FMT HSS, bss. Enjoy it for a while as it is, just to see how you like it. Nice pics too.

I think the hilltop gentleman may present some pictures. He didn't seem too terribly perturbed by my goofing around.

I doubt that the 1955 in question was Buddy Holly's guitar (as Buddy had his 1st strat until Sept. 1957 when it was stolen, so hilltop's friend couldn't have purchased it in 1955 -- before the Strats, Buddy had a Gold Top Les Paul!). I can show you a 1954 to tide you over?!?

And I've hit 1400 posts!

Maybe we'll see that '55. Okay, until then, here's a '74, '54, and '75 ... and everything looks good parked in front of a classic Marshall.

Bless my cotton socks! Is that a reissue, or a real '54?

 - Ceri

PS: we're way off topic by now... Nice Strat, bss; yadda-yadda (see other compliments, above).
